Backcountry Recipes

One of the problems with commercially prepared foods is that they add considerable bulk and some weight because of packaging. Also, some of them, particularly the so-called “instant” rices, take quite long to cook.   This consumes excess fuel, which also adds to the weight you need to carry on long trips. The following are a few recipes or recipe ideas which will help:

  1. Conserve food weight and bulk

  2. Conserve fuel weight

  3. Reduce cost

  4. Add variety to what you eat

All these recipes have been trail-tested and enjoyed by our family and club members.  That doesn't mean that you'll like them, but perhaps it increases the odds.
